The Roots of Halloween Is Definitely Pagan And Superstition, Says Rich Smith.

In a recent talk with Rich Smith of The United States about the topic "What Is His View About Halloween", He tells Dewordz his views:

"I taught the past two Sundays on a Christian and Biblical view of Halloween, actually.  Most of material from Rev. John Mahon.

Must hold what Scripture says above what culture and tradition says.  Second Christians need not fear demons or ghosts or anything else.  We are secure in Christ and freed from the domain of darkness (Col 1:13).  We can use opportunity to share the Gospel.

Roots of Halloween definitely pagan and superstition.  So don’t know why a Christian would take seriously.  Many churches hold alternative, calling it fall festival, without the scary costumes.  Some churches use opportunity to have not a haunted house but a place to represent hell.

I taught that demons are real but we are not to speak to them or seek to know things taught by demons (1 Tim 4:1-3).

But ghosts and zombies etc are not real because the Bible is clear that after death comes judgment—-heaven for genuine born again person and hades for the unsaved.  Heb 9:27 and others.  Luke 16 Jesus taught about what happens after death and where.  And no one goes from one realm to another.

For most, Halloween is innocent fun.  But I do not personally participate in it by dressing like evil or wicked or allowing my children to.  We are friendly to neighbors kids who come by trick or treating because they are innocent and some times we had included a tract or said ‘God bless you.’

I don’t condemn friends, neighbors, co workers, but pray for opportunity to witness.
But certainly some take it too far—getting too close to the things of Satan.  He is a liar and deceiver so we cannot trust him; he uses Halloween to make the kingdom of darkness fun and attractive.  Then he comes along as angel of light and says he is not that bad.

Rev. John Mahon has his study on gciweb website.  Also how to share Gospel using a pumpkin, which can be used at this time.  So no need to fear but take advantage of every opportunity to share the Word in season , out of season."
